TOECS Level I Course for the Balkan Countries has started in Samokov

Bulgarian Minister of Youth and Sport Krasen Kralev opened today the TOECS Level I Course in Samokov, Bulgaria. The Minister, who is a former athlete himself was pleased to welcome the 40 participants coming from 14 countries. “Athletic is the core of all sports and it is really good to see so many young people keen on improving their education and deliver the best of themselves in the field of sport” – he said.

The Mayor of Samokov Vladimir Georgiev was extremely happy to see athletics coming to his city again after the European Cross Country Championships 2014.

The course is organised by Balkan Athletics with the support of IAAF and European Athletics. It is offering better qualification opportunity to the athletics officials in the region, thus improving the general level of refereeing. Main Lecturers are Nadya But-Husaim from Belarus and Apostol Slavchev, Bulgaria. Ivan Slavchev and Emil Zdravkov are assisting with translation.

The Course will continue until Sunday, 25 June 2017 and will finish with oral and written examinations. Those among the participants who would successfully pass the exams will gain the Level I qualification and will be eligible for participation in the Level II Course organised by European Athletics in September.
